Daunte visits with Buccaneers

Dolphins quarterback Daunte Culpepper, who was released by the team on Tuesday, visited with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Dolphins quarterback Daunte Culpepper, who was released by the team on Tuesday, visited with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Former Dolphins quarterback Daunte Culpepper isn't taking long to target potential suitors, and the second team to show public interest in his services also is in Florida.

Culpepper flew to Tampa on Thursday morning to visit with coach Jon Gruden, general manager Bruce Allen and personnel executive Doug Williams. The team confirmed the visit, but did not give other details.

Before Culpepper officially had been released Tuesday, one other team -- the Jacksonville Jaguars -- expressed interest. The Jaguars' quarterbacks said they had been told Jacksonville likely would talk to Culpepper upon his departure from Miami.

Neither team seems to be a natural fit for Culpepper, because both already are loaded with players competing for the starting job. The Bucs, for instance, have Jeff Garcia, Bruce Gradkowski, Chris Simms, Jake Plummer and Luke McCown on their roster.

Culpepper doesn't seem opposed to competition.

He said Tuesday in an e-mail that he believed he could have won the starting job in Miami this season if he was given the opportunity.

SATELE SIGNS

The Dolphins still have not agreed to terms with their top two picks -- wide receiver Ted Ginn Jr. and quarterback John Beck -- but they did sign center Samson Satele.

Satele, a second-round pick who was selected after Beck, agreed to a four-year deal worth $2.89 million, meaning he'll be in camp when rookies report Sunday.

Ginn's agent, Neil Cornrich, has said he would not discuss negotiations before they are completed.

Beck's father, Wendell Beck, said Thursday his son has no intentions of holding out.

Center Drew Mormino, a sixth-round pick from Central Michigan, also has yet to finish his deal.
